No one has ever laughed at me at the track, but we all laugh at the 16-18 second dip****s that go out to the track. It's no different than the jack asses in their new stangs that think they are going to tear some **** with their 15 second wonders. If you don't run faster than 14's you don't belong on a drag strip. the reason civics get no respect is because the civic has a reputation as a economy car, and not a sports car. It's hard to get over that stereotype. We know civics have potential and any true car guy knows any car can be fast no matter what it is. Hell, look at mustangs, if you say," I have a mustang GT", the average dip**** will say, "Do you race?" or , "yeah, they are fast" or some **** like that. When in reality they are truely overated pieces of ****. My brother in law just bought a brand new black GT and the very night he got it, he comes over starts talking smack about how now he has a real car. to make a long story short, we went to the track and I ran a 13.8 in my civic and he ran a consistant low to mid 15's all night long and he has an intake and exhaust. A couple of weeks later he starts in with the, "well if I had a turbo, blah, blah, blah" So we head out to the industrial area in town and I hand him a two car length beat down in my SE. Three times in a row we ran and I spanked his ass each time. Now, he just *****es about how he can't wait until he gets his supercharger. The general car public just has this notion that mustangs and Trans Ams and such are fast. Now don't get me wrong, they all have plenty of potential and are far easier to get power out of, but in OEM form they definately don't live up to the hype. I mean if a muscle car with bolt-ons can be whooped by a four door sedan with bolt-ons then there is a problem. To top it all off my brother in law was whooped by two of his cousins. One whooped him in his RSX and the other one in his 1994 Trans Am Auto with 140k on it. Our cosuin with the TA runs a 14.4 with an intake and he is handicapped with only one leg and he is missing four fingers. I'm going off topic bu my point is that in stock form or even with bolt-ons, civics are SLOW as ****. So if you want to earn respect for civics you have to go all out. ten years from now maybe civics will get the same respect as say the Z cars or the Turbo diamondstar crew.
