ive been researching on an ls.vtec build for 6 months or more now and just started my build. You wont make 200whp with type r pistons because they only yield about a 10.x:1 compression ratio. to get to/exceed 200 you should aim for around 11.5:1 compression which can be done with jdm b16 pistons (p30) or with usdm b16 pistons (pr3) and a gsr head. A gsr head will yeild approx .2-.4 cr points. You can use ls rods, but it is recommended to shotpeen them (i have done this its cheap) and then you can rev them higher. Im planing on an 8600 soft cut to 8900 hard cut limiter on crome. Might want to balance the crank too...cant hurt.
