Good info, but I think it is out of date for Ca. Last time I checked, it was not legal to tint the front windows at all (got 2 fix-it tickets for it, but they were dark). Having said that, I've done 3 cars with 50% (as a result of getting hassled) on the front driver/passenger and never had a problem with cops, even when pulled over.
