I think what he's saying is that he has a close-coupled cat, and was wondering if replacing it with a standard cat would give more power.
If so, the answer is YES. It should make quite a difference, actually. But the main gains will come from the header design, and not the rest of the exhaust.
With your current exhaust system, the catalytic converter is bolted to the engine with only a very short 4-1. What this does is allow the cat to heat up to operating temp as fast as possible, which keeps emissions to a minimum at startup. However, it absolutely molests your powerband.
I'd suggest picking up a quality 4-2-1 header, a high flow cat, and a good
mandrel bent exhaust. The power differences you'll see on an SOHC engine for highflow cat vs. test pipe will not be worth the harm you would do to the environment.
