1. it does sound like the main relay if it does it only when its hot outside. check the contacts on the relay...
2. u dont mention if its carb or fuel injection..
3. could be the starter contacts.
4. bad cell in the battery.
5. check your battery cables see if they r loose. check also at the connection to the starter.
6.how old r your plugs,
7. wires, rotor button,
8. coil and ignitor?
9. when mine did a smiliar thing it was a valve that was out of adjustment.
