Honda uses it because it's more durable than a belt, basically. No need to ever be changed. It's more expensive and requires a lot more engineering/testing though. The F20C also uses a chain and has some trick scissor gears.

Yes, BorgWarner chains and sprockets made in Ithaca New York. I believe a couple of the components (I think the guide arm, tensioner arm and oil pump drive guide) are Japanese sourced.
