To answer your question, testing the actual solenoid is simple. Just take a wire, or a gator clip, and unplur the solenoid, and and take the clip put it on ur battery and the other side into the wire going into the solenoid, u should hear a pretty noticeable click. The 12v signal from ur batttery manually opens the vtec solenoid.
