Yeah it's weird because if you have ever checked out the process for the death penalty it is stupid.

For the last week you are on a suicide watch
During the last two weeks constant health checks by doctors to make sure you are in good health before your death.

If you are found to have a cold, the flu, or any sickness your death has to be postponed until you are in good health.

Then they sterilize the needle and the skin before pumping poison into your body
