Default mini-me d16z6 head storage & prep questions

I got my Mini-Me head in the mail today. a d16z6 head with selonoid but without the valve cover I still have a few more months to go before i can install it, i need a gasket set and plug wires and p28 ecu to save up for. while this head sits in my garage is there anything i should do to it to prevent any damage to it? should i cover it up or oil it down polish it up with a rag?

Here are some photos of my new head. the valves looks really dirty id like to clean them. I would like to take it to a local shop and have them make sure it doesnt need a 'valve job' or have the lasches checked i dont even know what those things mean but i dont know of anyplace to take it to..anyhow please take a look at my pics and tell me if it looks broken or anything

The seller had removed the pully that the timing belt wraps around and when i asked him if its still included in the item (in the ebay photos it was removed) he said he put it back on. is it possible to be put back on wrong? how does it make sure that the marks are in the right place? (it does has marks for timing right? im a real newbie to engine internals)

Should the wheel the timing belt goes on be easy to turn by hand? (it's not) should i turn it by hand or is that bad for the head (i could not make it move)
