the b-series is your best bet. for someone like you i'd imagine the best idea would be to pick a swap that is simple and has been done before, once you gain more knowledge you migth eventually want to move onto something more exotic, but i feel that sticking a b18 or a b20 in there would greatly improve your performance as well as the grin on your face.

personally i would try and find a GSR motor (labeled b18c1 in the US or if it is a JDM counterpart it will be labeled b18C and have an advertised output around 180hp)

the increase in torque out of any of the raised deck b-series should be enough to make you happy for now, and the b series has alot of potential for future goals. (these engines i am refering to are the b18 and b20 derivitives excluding the b20a)
