I'd say try and do it yourself (or find a friend to help you)..........it isn't really that hard - and you can save a lot of money.

$1,000 for brakes seems crazy to me......especially if all you need is pads (and possibly rotors).

Edit: I just read you post again, they quoted you $1,000 for JUST THE REAR? WOAH! You can definitely do better than that.

I.E.) You can buy AutoZone Lifetime Warranty pads (rears) for about $25.00 - and never have to buy them again. When they wear out, just bring them in and get a new pair. Are you sure Acura didn't try to incorporate something else in their quote? If it is just pads, they must be charging over $800 in labor - for an hour's worth of work.......WTF?
