Not really a good idea to paint countertops. If you decide to try it use a paint that is NSF approved for food contact surfaces. You will find yourself having to repaint them a lot, there's more wear and tear on counters than you think until you put an easily scuffed surface on them.

john, they will remodel when the time comes to sell. to be frank, their father passed away but the mother is still alive just in a nursing home. they don't want to sell since one of the estate owners is still alive. we are living here to keep the homeowner's ins in effect.
i don't think i'll take the time to paint them. i have a feeling i'll be doing most of this myself because my roommate is definately not jumping on the paint train anytime soon.
