i'd been dating a flight attendent for the past 4 years who lived in japan... but we had an "open" relationship, so there was no pressure and we were both otherwise having fun, she flew here once a week as a flight attendant, and i go to japan a few times every year and she vacations here a couple times a year. international calls are pretty cheap now, i think i pay like $.03/min to landline and $.17/min to cellphones in japan, so we saw and talked to each other regularly enough.

anyway, we got engaged last month, and she's going to be moving here next month
