Default Power Window question

Hi, my Father-in-law and I am trading cars. He has a G2 GS 4-door with leather and all that, and I have a 1991 Civic DX. Now, long story short, my engine in newer, and his son wants my car. He was going to sale the G2 to get him one like mine, but I just said we should trade. Now, of course there are little things about each car that aren't that great. My question, on the GS, the driver-side window don't roll down. Before it went out, it would roll down almost all the way, but wouldn't want to roll back up. We would literally have to pull the window up pushing the switch to get it up. Now, I'm thinking either the switch, which feels fine, or most likely the motor. 3 questions:
1. is there a way to test the motor?
2. Is there a DIY to change the window motor out?
3. Is the motor attached to the window roll down assembly, or can it just changed without takind out the tracks and all that?

Any help would be appreciated, as its getting hot in LA, and the car don't have Freez-on.
