Also, he'll want to point his toes out just slightly for stability, and this will also help with the hip turn. For the downswing, I think the hips should start the downswing just barely. This helps from starting with the shoulders, and coming over the top...creating a nasty slice. Starting with the hips and letting the arms drop naturally will help an inside out swing path and keep the swing path on plane.
yeah, I try to start my hips a little sooner...but I end up starting them too soon and it tends to open the club face and I fade it a little.
Golf is all about Tempo, my biggest problem is I sometimes try to swing too hard.
