It's definitely not the battery or some loose connection. It's the ignition switch. I'd be willing to bet on it. I remember that recall because I had it done on my car. A bad battery or loose connection will not cause your car to just die on the highway. A car can drive without a battery. It just needs it to start. Which brings me to another point, if the battery was bad or had a loose connection somewhere then the car wouldn't even start.
