Check the battery with a voltimeter first. That's my bet.
There should be at least 13 volts with the motor off and the leads attached.
And if it's the OEM battery, it's probably on its last legs.
I know my starter took longer to kick over near the end.

As a point of reference, my OEM battery lasted just about six years.
