He hands the ball off in a manner most fitting for the half/full/running back and watches the play, applying a block if absolutely necessary (and if they have the balls). A corrdinated offensive line is the core of the running game. If you think any different, I pity you.
A good QB can be just as important as a good running back in the running game. Through counters and options the QB runs the show and makes his best decision of where the ball goes, and who it goes to. Tell me again you can throw anybody in this position and succeed.
