I had the same problem with my B&M shifter. I also got the B&M with aluminum bushings kit which makes a solid feel. It does transmit some "vibrations", but I can deal with that. The problem that I had was when the shifter became extremely loose. I took a look and disvovered that the little rubber "o-rings" that hold the shifter in place were not doing their job anymore allowing the shifter to move side to side a lot. I put a little oil on the "o-rings" to expand them to lock shifter handle back into place. That only lasted for a little while. Those little rubber "o-rings" seem to dry out. So my simple solution was to place a tie-wrap on each side of the shifter handle to lock it back into place and there is no more excessive side to side movement.
