It's not going to make a big difference either way.

You'd get more on a disk by reripping the music into mp3 at a lower bitrate. Say 64bit, youll probably double or better your amount of songs per disk.

HOWEVER, more songs per disk simply means less quality per song. The more you squeeze onto the cd, the less quality that goes with each song.
