a new image format would be great. JPGs are fine for most uses, but who wouldn't want higher image quality with a smaller file size? :screwy:

PNGs are good, especially because they're lossless and support alpha transparency. but PNG's compression can't beat JPG in filesize, so they're not ideal for general web uses... yet.

what clickwir is saying is right, tho. if MS doesn't open the format up and get it standardized, it's stupid, worthless, and shouldn't be used.
