Very valid point.

I should have specified that I meant a private party sale like Honda-tech or a local ad where the seller knows that the tranny doesn't grind and has been taken care of.

In my case, if I were to sell my tranny to someone, I know that it doesn't grind at all and has been taken care of, so you wouldn't run the risk of getting another grinding tranny from a junkyard pull.

A rebuild would be the best option, but certainly won't be the cheapest.
