i personally would never switch from verizon, the network is just too good, my girlfriend is switching from cingular to verizon once the contract is up and her brother recently switched from nextel to verizon...

what kind of contract are you under paying $71 a month, i suggest finding one that better suits your needs and doesnt give you things that you dont actually use.

are you paying for text messages in advance, are you paying for IN messages and not texting people with verizon? are you paying for 1000 messages a month but texting only verizon customers?
