The pres plays a role in keeping the government in check. There are few limits to freedom of press. To suggest that there should be otherwise is UNAMERICAN.
How do these things undermine our security? Remember, without freedom, our country is not worth fighting for.
Are you kidding me??? You have got to be joking!!
The revelation by any media source of ongoing operations to protect this country from further terrorist attacks is treason. Especially when it is done, not out of national security, but out of disdain for a sitting President.
The press does not play any direct role in keeping government in check. They have no such mandate. Our founding fathers have set this government up so there are checks and balances between the three branches of government. And while the freedom of press is wide ranging the line is drawn when it comes to treason or the outing of ongoing intelligence gathering capabilities. They have no such freedoms exposing those activities...especially when they are conducted against those that wish to do this country harm.
How do these revelations hurt our national security?? Every Al Qaeda member now has a new phone number or cell phone as they now know their old ones were being listened too. The are also changing their plans on how to communicate with their operatives inside the US and elsewhere. Both measures are setting back our capabilities to uncover their plots...hopefully they are not able to gain from this. But that is a big gamble our press took, a gamble with American lives.
