1986 Prelude Si: Need Help with Rear Deck Speaker Replacement
I need some help with replacing the stock speakers on my 86 Prelude Si. I'm trying to figure out a way to secure them.
The original speakers are attached to the deck with three equally spaced screws. Unfortunately the replacement speakers use a four screw pattern that doesn't line up with the stock holes.
The new speakers do come with a metal installation ring with a variety of hole patterns pre-drill in it. Will I need to drill four new holes through the deck to allow the use of the new speaker's four hole arrangement? Or is there some simpler step I might be able to take. (I'd like to avoid drilling holes since there's very little room to work.)
I briefly tried to test fit one of the new speakers last night but it's a pain when the speaker magnet grabs the installation ring when it gets too close.
As background, both speaker have 6 1/2" diameters. The new speakers are Infinity Model 6002i. The new speakers drop in from the top and sit in a grill frame provided with the speakers.
Any advice is appreciated.
