to answer the question of the 5 speed and what it has to do with my driving record... when i did own very fast cars, i raced anyone who wanted some (this was before evasion was a felony and way before the movie fast and the furious when suddenly all these knuckleheads come out of the woodwork and drive fast with no skill) since the influx of these wanna be racers, the police have started cracking down on roadraces (used to be able to race at the beach and get off with warnings, but not always)... but since i did race alot, vettes, cobras, saleens, rx-7's, ss camaros, built old school muscle cars etc. at least 5 nights a week for about 8 months straight. well long story short, after investing over $200,000 to keep my driving rights, and no telling how many days missed from work for court appearances. i like speed, i like adrenaline. i love to drive fast. since i racked up 24 tickets in less than 5 weeks, i went to a slower 45 banger motor and jacked up trucks that wouldnt tempt me to race. 5 years is a long time to wait for a clean record. not to mention that with all those tickets i was paying over $700 per month for liability insurance on an sr-22 for my mustang.. that was the cheapest rate i could find, and 95% of insurance companies wouldnt insure me. i think i have grown wiser and decided to only try to race on tracks at scheduled events, but then again... there isnt any traffic to test your skills there. and i am way too poverished to get sponsored for short track circle racing, nor can i aford my own nascar team. and believe me i have tried. ricky rudd is local and we used to get alot of parts from his dads junkyard, and i tried everytime to get connected into high speed motorsports. so i have to settle for what i can get. so with an automatic i am less prone to racing, one, since it isnt any fun, two it isnt challenging, and three, they just arent meant for racing. and i hope by the time i get the motor built and drop the 5 speed i will have picked up some more sponsors and i wont be allowed to race.... losing a sponsor for street racing is a hard blow. and it carries with you. my buddy lost 4 main sponsors for racing, and now he cant get anyone to take him on. the closest legal track here is over a 2 hour drive and it is only 1/8 mile. now tell me.... how fun does that sound. fricken roller coasters have vertical climbs higher than that. and yes theme parks are part of my adrenaline rush. there is one 45 minutes from here and another about 2 hours from here and one 3 hours from here. and the best part.... no cops in the park. and that my friend is how a 5 speed factors into the equation.
