i have heard different opinions of getting a d16 (94
civic ex) crank polished, or ground. i do not see anything wrong with getting polished, but mine has wear and needs to be cut. i have heard conflicting arguments of getting a new crank, or just getting it done. it needs to be ground .03 or .75mm. i know they make the bearing kits in these sizes, and i dont think they would if it couldnt be done, but i wonder just how much integrity will be lost, and how long i can expect it to last. i do not
race !!! at least not often anyways... got an automatic for crying out loud.
i am considering rebuilding the block, or just getting another whole
motor. cost is relatively the same once all seals and machine work has been paid for, and new pistons too. also have the
jdm d15 vtec 130 hp lower end (spun bearing, so i am sure it will need machining too. opinions are welcome, but true knowledge is honored. should i machine and rebuild, or better to motor swap and sell parts to reclaim some of my losses.
i want an all motor setup. what pistons should i use and what compression ratio is the highest i can run on mid grade 91 (most of the time)and high octane 93 (whenever i can afford it) to get max performance without spark knock. more than likely will be a d16z6 setup.
finally, do you recommend the jdm or the usdm auto tranny. i am not sure what gear ratios they have..5 SPEED IS OUT OF THE QUESTION...PLEASE DON'T RECOMMEND IT. I LIKE HAVING A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD FOR A CHANGE. THANK YOU
