get a compression and leakdown test to make sure everything is good...also do all the scheduled maintenance was done and do a tune up. You should be good...if it blows up, rebuild it. I was going to turbo my '95 GS-R, but when I tried synthetic, it started burning about a quart of oil every 1200 or so miles. So now, I am saving up for pistons and rods (since I'll be tearing it apart anyway) and a slight building of the head (new valve guides, springs, and retainers).
