Semi-automatic weapons are legal in almost all states... and in most states, outside of California, New York, New Jersey, Hawaii and maybe one or two others, you can purchase the gun I showed (which is semi-automatic) off the rack for about $800-$950.
Here in California we have a few more hoops to jump through to stay legal, so I ended up buying mine in parts and building it from scratch. Total cost was about $1100.
I can pick em up for just under grand new, build one for about 6-700 (nothing fancy just function) or buy a used one in good shape mild build for about 800-1200.
