if you go get a haynes or whatever manual, it'll tell you how to take the thing out. it actually is really easy and can be done in half a day at the most.
i took mine out during my engine swap and up here in norcal it doesnt get hawt either. if i need to use a/c, ill drive one of my parent's cars.
