I've been to Nopi Nationals from the beginning. Yeah they are a lot of rice there, but to me the good outweighed the bad. Yeah it was hot as hell, but isn't hot almost every year at Nopi. To me Nopi has one of the best arenas for car enthusiats to unite and actually converse, observe, and scrutinize all types of vehicles import and not import. I am a fan of all types of modified cars whether it's a big block or an Escalade on 24s. I give respect when it is deserved. I loved the dyno contest. I was actually able to ask specific questions to vendors and real drag racers like Jojo, Steph, and Chris. Getting autographs and pictures wasn't close to the half of it. Many of the top import mechanics were on hand with their own cars giving advice. There was a free dyno for god sakes. To me it can't get any better than that. There was a Lamborgini Diablo, a Hennessy Viper, the 1st ever Skyline, Ricky Chu had his right hand drive out there. Arospeed and I think Advan had their real Civic Type Rs. Plus look at all the true cars that were in the parking lot. I stood on the main road leaving NOPI after the show and heard a plethora of N/A tuned, turbo, and supercharged monsters on the street. It was held in GA for crying out loud. Look at the number of spectators, look at how far people drove to be there. NOPI NATIONAL no where close to sucked. It has the fan base to keep on going for a hella long time. We as an import community are finally getting respect in the main stream and we can't even be remotely glad that there are events like this. I live in GA, and I frequent shows in NY and FL and I still like the NOPI NATIONALS. It may not be the best but it works for a lot of other people out there.
And no my car wasn't in the show. I don't believe it is at a show stage, but I would have entered the show just to be able to dyno my car for free.
And P.S. I have a N/A tuned Honda Del Sol that runs faster than 15.8 with a single cam vtec, and I have had a 95 Si that ran faster than 15.8 with a single cam vtec. NO TURBO, NO NITROUS, NO SLICKS, NO NOTHING. Just plain old me, my tools, my garage, my friends, and a Helms manual.
And a lil extra I am 17 years old attending high school working a part time job at Old Navy. My parents have not given me one cent for the purchase of both of my Hondas nor have they given me one cent into the build up of my Honda. And I have had many mechanical setbacks. So quit with the sob story.
Sorry just had to vent
