Am I being too anal? - Difference in import scene
Well, my recent visits to the G35 forums left me kinda dissappointed.
I was seeking advice for some performance mods, but after a lot of searching, I found out that the majority of the people don't really know what they're talking about.
They're mostly based their feedback on:
1. Sounds
2. Prices (higher = better)
3. Looks
4. Reputations
There are some that really know their stuffs really well, but they're barely on there. Most are just rich people or spoiled brats who're just giving $$ for others to do their stuffs.
I really miss the old Honda scene where most of the stuffs are DIY and we'd have to research, trial and error to see what's best for our cars.
Just like I was asking about the header-testpipe-catback setup for the G35C and want to do 2.5" straight back, true dual exhaust, but the rest of them are like: "why? Don't do it, get this, it sounds better, etc." Half of them don't even know what I'm talking about and don't know any specs on their stuffs, like the piping of their exhaust, the size of their header collector, nor the diameter of the intake pipes.
I mean, for example, about the Pop-charger and the Stillen Air box that they're so hyped about. In my eyes, they're nothing but a basic Short Ram intake with a heatshield, of which, any of our Honda enthusiasts can fabricate up that heatshield.
So my question is, is it because that I've been exposed to things from different angles and DIYs that I see it different than most of them, or am I just being anal about it? Should go with the flow like the rest of them?
