if i buy a new upstream sensor can i remove the current one and rewire it to work behind the cat??

i have an MIL eliminator to keep the CEL from comin on... its currently on the rear sensor but that sensor recently went out (due to an unrelated problem)

i think it would be best to have the fresh sensor in the header so hopefully i can put the MIL eliminator on the current one, rewire it, and install it downstream... thx for ur help
