now i'm, driving it today and the IACV went bad. i was sitting in the drive thru, and i let it run for about 5 mins revving up and down before I had a chance to move forward. when i went to go forward, it seemed as if the tranny wasnt in gear, but it was in drive.

put it in park, then put it in drive. it revved, changed gears, then moved. it did this twice in a row while i was waiting to move forward.

got it out of the drive thru, no probs.

I already drained and filled the fluid.

any thoughts? i'm thinking the IACV keeps the trans from shifting while its revving, th protect the trans/motor, and replacing the IACV would make it work.
the D16Y8 Auto Tranny doesn't allow you to change gears when it's reving around 1,800RPM from (P)ARK. In my car it won't let me shift out of park at that high of RPM unless I stick my key or screw driver in the slot next to the shifter.

Replacing the IACV would keep the revs down. Yes that is protection from grinding the gears.
