When I was at Microsoft we had a discussion about compeditors and what not. Have you seen screenshots of Vista? Many of the ideas were taken from OSX. They said that if their compeditors weren't so strong and had such good ideas, Microsoft wouldn't be what it is today. They benefit from FF. They got the idea of a tabbed browser from FF. Same with many other Open Source programs and compeditors like Mac.
