I'm interested in running in the 1.5 to 2.0 liter engine class at Bonneville. I thought a Honda engine would be great for making reliable power, but I want front engine, rear drive for a quick-change rear end. (I'll be running in either streamliner or lakester class.)
Any ideas on what transmissions could mount up to a B18 or B20? Or is that a question for eslewhere on Honda-Acura net?
Thanks again.
I'm not familiar with that kinda crap. We have an Engine Tech and a Hybrid forum towards the bottom of the forum listings in the tech section. If that's the way you're going, I suggest going the route of an old Toyota with RWD (like an early 80's Celica) and putting the F20C in there. That wouild be ideal. It can be done with some work (and probably 3-6 grand, not counting the engine which will run you at least 6 grand, maybe 8 or 10). Your best bet for a tranny on the B18 is the Integra Type-R transmission hooked up to a B18C5 (or go with a B18B1 non-VTEC if you're gonna turbo and crap, they have the best low end torque and best build characteristics of all 1.8L Honda engnes). As for the B20...I've never heard of a B20. Maybe I'm having a major brain fry here, but they have the K20 (RSX)...and I can't think of any other 2.0L Honda engines besides the F20C. The B18 is front engine, BTW. Some people have mounted it in the back of a CRX.
