There are many a Honda snob (myself included) who take the perception of people who mis-spell VTEC in any variant you mention, whether intentional or not, as one who doesn't really know what exactly it is, what exactly it stands for, how it works, or even who makes it.

v-tech is a telephone manufacturer. We generally ignore anyone who makes reference to any Honda engine technology as a telephone.
