Not only are they illegal(not DOT approved) but they tend to not last very long.
I have heard the same thing about the silverstars, but from my expericence i have had no problems with them, i guess it is hit or miss.
light output is pretty good but DANG are they expensive and i have not had good luck with them. burned out both within 6 mos and the next set within the next 6 mos. back to el-cheapo bulbs untill i get hid. its really the only way to go. at the rate i was going with silverstars i made it a 1/4 of the way to a set of hid's in money spent on bulbs that just burn out.
