I have an original Red Alpha, little metal Green Alpha, Matchbox SDF-1, and a Scott Bernard figure with Cyclone Armor. All in boxes.
Most durable is the bandai 1:55 scale. Most authentic/coolest is the yamato 1:48. I consider these the second best toy ever made behind MP OP. If the yamato 1:48's had dicast components, I'd say they rival MP OP
