trust me...last thing you want is a NICE car parked on the side of a road in collegeville where people key it b/c they are jealous, break into it, bash into it b/c they can't drive, puke in it b/c she's too drunk, etc.

if you're smart and I hope you are...keep the Teg (it's a hatch so you can haul an enormous amount of stuff - I had a 98 gsr that i loved and actually used it to move from our apartment to our first house) and use that for college as a Teg is still nice enough of a car that no one will judge you rich or poor or stupid and if anything happens to it it's not such a big deal or disappointment

have the rents give you the money and invest it or put into some interest bearing account and make something off it...then upon graduation you can have a downpayment on a house or buy an even nicer or brand new sports car

the biggest mistake I see time and time again is people trying to buy a car they cannot afford or do not need...cars are a money pit and will not give you any rate of return

in fact I can go out and buy my dream car (NSX) brand new or even easily afford a used one without any need to take a loan - but b/c I smartly save and spend money and do not try to live beyond my means that I am slowly able to afford things I never thought I could...I will buy one someday but not if it hurts my financial well being (also have a 4 year old so college savings and emergency savings are key)
:werd: My sentiments exactly.

If you must get something else for the sake of novelty, find yourself a 01-03 WRX and a decent set of performance tires. It'll be nearly as fast, much more versatile and be more manageable in terms of handling.

Then with the 10K left over, roll it into a CD or mutual fund and let it grow. That way, when you have your degree you've got a decent stash of emergency funds -- or the foundation for your retirement investments.

What a way to make your point...:a:
We're entitled to give helpful advice just as much as you are.

Since your argument centers around calling those who advocate restraint "douche bags"... kindly piss off.
