It's all in the physics of the front suspension. Forces are exerted on different parts, those parts are connected to the body at the strut towers. Force from the road and in turning motion are exerted on the towers, which will flex. The strut bar ties the towers together to transfer the force to the other side to give the suspension a somewhat equilibrium.
