My mom was also known as the latke lady, for the duration of mine and my siblings' elementary school careers. Each hanukkah she would come in to class armed with two electric frying pans and a whole lotta latke batter she made the night before, and would give a little presentation on what latkes are and then fry mass quantities of them sumbitches up for all us stupid elementary school kids to eat.
