my friend decided to report his modifications to the insurance company thinking they'd adjust his premium ... they denied his coverage claiming the car isn't what was on the agreement.

I've never had a problem with getting compensated for my stereo stuff when it's been stolen. As far as engine mods, I'm not sure...but I believe they cover anything that is attached to the car. Rims are definitely covered.
