most likely the VSS (vehicle speed sensor), very common issue with older hondas and a dead speedo is a sure sign. If you continue to drive the car like this, you should get a check engine light...

The sensor is located on top of the transmission, near the firewall... almost directly below where the intake tube meets the throttle body.
