In my 10 years experience with wheels and tires on Civics you can do a 16x7.5" wheel but it will rub. Sometimes lightly sometimes really bad.

See the problem with most wheel companies is that one company's 40mm offset might be 38mm and another will be 42mm. There's no Quality Control really in measurements. I had a TSW wheel that was 17x7" and said 40mm on the wheel. With Toyo FZ4 205/40x17" tires it would rub.

Then I got another wheel from TSW that was also 17x7" and 40mm offset and same tires on it and it didn't rub. I didn't change any suspension components or alignment.
