Cause that's the definitive factor.
I ran 390 whp on a boosted B18C1 on stock GSR cams/gears for a WHILE. I only went with adjustable gears when I dropped in JDM ITR cams and did gain about 9 whp out of adjustment to the intake cam, but I was also making 457 whp then too.
h: They are helpful, but not a requirement and it also has a lot to do with what cams and what all has been done.
