I had to use 93 in my 96 Accord, otherwise it would detonate and ping like crazy. Even after I had the timing adjusted, tune-up, fuel filter replaced, injectors cleaned, fuel system treatment, you name it! The engine just didn't run right on anything less than 91 octane (but most filling stations here don't have 91, so I had to use 93) I figured pinging would do more harm to the motor than if I ran a higher octane than the manual suggested.
With that said, if the engine runs fine on 87... using higher octane would be a waste of $$ and does NOT increase performance. The F22 SHOULD be able to run on 87 octane, via it's compression ratio. Oh well, my car was a spoiled brat...it liked the good stuff I guess :hsdunno:
