i had a protege5 and it was a nice looking and handling car...the engine was typical for them and 10 years behind the competitors but they got away with displacement

the quality of it isn't very good as at 20k miles i was ready to get rid of it for fear of all the problems that were cropping up...would take 2/3 times a try to start it in the winter, tranny would pop out of 3rd on every 5th shift into it, clutch chatter, a/c wound up getting less powerful (maybe a leak or something), and the interior did not look as high quality after 5k miles
