That's exactly what I did. I bought two 160 mm (6-1/2 in) Alpine type R speakers for the front and two 6 x 9 inch of the same for the rear. Rears dropped in quick with no fabrication required. But I had to cut the plastic "bowl" in the front door panel behind the stock speaker, so that the Type R's, with their massive magnets, would fit in flush. This way, the speakers were able to go in deep enough so that I could put the stock grilles back on. Considering the price of these speakers, I'm glad no one can tell I have them by looking inside the car. Unfortunately, they CAN see the Alpine head unit/deck that I put in . There's no way to hide that thing.
