Hi,
I have a '90 Civic with a tranny problem. The gearshift sticks in park. I have to press hard on the brakes and wiggle the gearshift ahead a bit before I move it down to a drive gear. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be or experienced this with their car?

I guess these are my steps:
1) check tranny fluid level (I thought it was okay last time; will check again)
2) I think there is a tranny filter kit to try (?)
3) Take the car in to a repair shop to get inspected.

One other thing: it seems like the problem worsens in cold weather or when the engine is cold and hasn't been started for a while. What would that be a sign of?

I appreciate any advice or suggestions. This problem didn't happen last winter so something has definitely happened recently...
